November 2008
It's the month of giving thanks, and if there's one thing to be grateful for, it's good fashion advice courtesy of the helpful Mode Angel and the harsher Mode Devil. Hitting the streets on a pilgrimage to fix up the fashion mistakes made by the average girl or guy on the go, the Mode Angel and Mode Devil are finding that people are sending mixed messages with their outfits, mismatching styles, statements, cuts and patterns. The big lesson for the Thanksgiving season is to be aware of your overall look and silhouette (especially after a big turkey dinner). Being fashionably correct isn't something that can be thrown together without careful consideration. You're welcome.

Mode Angel: The American closet is stuffed to bursting with denim, and jeans are becoming acceptable for nearly every occasion. Fine, fine. But next time you're getting dressed, ask yourself--would something else look better with this outfit than a pair of jeans? Might I actually cut a more interesting figure in a nice pair of black or charcoal trousers? I won't push. Just take it under consideration.

Mode Devil: Ahh. It looks like this miss realized her neutral-and-denim look was dull as dirt and added a necklace to brighten things up! Good instinct. Bad execution. This little missy's leaving the neckline completely empty -- total mistake. A couple of shorter necklaces (in addition or instead of the existing necklace) would help a lot, both to cover the empty areas and also to add something interesting to the outfit.
